New Beginnings – NCS

The Nikkei Cultural Society of Lethbridge and Area (NCS) was established in 2000 after the folding of the former Lethbridge and District Japanese Canadian Association (LDJCA).

Officially Becomes A Society

Founded by George Takashima, Pat Sassa, Reiko Takeyasu, Cliff Thomas, Sonny Nakashima, Aya Hironaka and Sway Nishimura NCS officially became a society as of February 18, 2003.

Minyo Dancers

After the dissolution of the Momiji Dancers (formed in 1978), the NCS Minyo dancers continued the tradition.

NCS Taiko

Formed in 2007, NCS Taiko is seen as a way to celebrate Japanese contemporary art and culture.

Nikkei Seniors Health Care & Housing Society is working to reach out and provide support to Japanese Canadians displaced during the Second World War.
